Update on plumbing license renewalAll plumbers' and apprentice plumbers' licenses expire on April 30th of each year. Typically, plumber's license renewals are done electronically. However, this year online renewal was not available due to ongoing licensing system upgrades. As a result, plumbers and apprentice plumbers may experience a delay in the issuance of licenses. IDPH anticipates that all applications submitted by April 30th will be processed by May 31st, 2024. Status of active plumbers licenses may be verified using the IDPH plumber License Verification Site: https://ildohplmprod.glsuite.us/GLSuiteWeb/Clients/ILDOHPLM/PUBLIC/Verification/Plumber_License_Verification.aspx. All plumbers and apprentice plumbers should expect to receive their license in the mail within 2-3 weeks, after their status is updated to active through April 30, 2025. From now until May 31st, 2024, IDPH is requesting local authorities having jurisdiction over plumbing inspections or plumbing permits, to honor existing plumbing licenses with expiration dates of April 30, 2024. Any local authority having jurisdiction, or any plumber, apprentice plumber, or plumbing contractor being denied permits or access to a job site, should notify [email protected] and request their status be updated. Please note, status will only be updated if a completed renewal application and all associated renewal requirements have been met.
